The University Sports Department was established in the year 1996. The entire Sports Complex is spread in an area of 40 Acres. The Sports Complex has one Hall for Badminton with Two Synthetic Badminton Courts, one Hall for Table-Tennis with Four Tables, Carom board and, Chess, one Conditioning Hall (Men) for 13 station Multi-Gym, one Conditioning Hall (Women) 06 six station, Yoga and Weight lifting, three half cemented Cricket pitch, one ground each for Football, Hand ball, Cricket and Athletic Track of 400 meter and three Volleyball grounds. In addition, the Sports Complex has two cemented Basketball courts with lights, two Volleyball courts with fencing and lights, two synthetic and one cemented Lawn Tennis courts with Lights and fencing. Timings for Sports activities in summer season are Morning 05:30 A.M. to 08:30 A.M. Evening 04:30 P.M. to 08:30 P.M and winter season Morning 06:00 A.M. to 09:00 A.M. Evening 04:00 P.M. to 08:00 P.M for University students and Staff Members. The Sports Equipments/ kits are issued to the students as well as to the University Employees during tournaments. The 35 Institutes were affiliated to the University of Hisar District. The Inter College tournaments in various games organized by this University and some of them were also given to affiliated institutes. The University team participated in various games like Judo, Karate, Taekwono, Wrestling, Yoga, Wushu, Pencek Silat, Chess, Football, Badminton, Table Tennis, Hand ball, Cross-Country, Weight lifting, Volleyball, Cricket and Annual Athletic Meet. Sports facilities for indoor games are also being created in the Boys and Girls Hostels. Adventure Sports activities are also conducted in various events i.e. Skiing Course, Motor Bike Tour and Trekking etc.

INCENTIVES TO OUTSTANDING SPORTS ACTIVITIES
Cash Prize of Rs. 3000/- along with Blazer Cloth and universities Colour are awarded to the Best Athlete (Male and Female) every year at the time of Athletic meet.
DA of students for Inter-university participation has been increased from Rs 250/- per head per day to Rs.350 per head per day.
Track Suit/ sports kit allowance for the students / team manager / coach for Inter University participations have been increased from Rs 1500/- per head to Rs. 2000/- per head.

Events Organized by Directorate of Sports
The Directorate of Sports has conducted the open selection Trials of Tennis (M&W) teams from June 6-8, 2017 at Tennis Court, GJUS&T, Hisar for World University Games 2017 which will be held at Taipei (Chiense Taipai) from August 19-30, 2017.
Dr. S.B. Luthra, Director of Sports accompany as a team manager of Indian Universities Tennis (M&W) teams in World Universities Games held from August 19-30, 2017 at Taipei (Chinese Taipei).
The Directorate of Sports organized the North Zone Inter University Tennis (M) Championship from October 11-16, 2017 at Tennis Court, GJUS&T, Hisar. The Championship was inaugurated by Prof. Rajesh Malhotra, Dean Academic Affairs, GJUS&T, Hisar on 11-10-2017. Dr. S.B Luthra, Director of Sports of the University presided over the Inaugural function. Prof. Mohinder Singh, International Volleyball Players, Yamuna Nagar was the Chief Guest at the Closing Ceremony and Prize Distribution Function. Prof. Harbhajan Bansal, DSW of the University presided over the Closing Ceremony as well as Prize distribution function.
The Directorate of Sports organized the North Zone Inter University Tennis (W) Championship from December 1-6, 2017 at Tennis Court, GJUS&T, Hisar. The Championship was inaugurated by Dr. S.B. Luthra, Director of Sports, GJUS&T, Hisar on 01-12-2017. Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor was the Chief Guest at the Closing Ceremony and Prize Distribution Function. Dr. S.B. Luthra, Director of Sports of the University presided over the Closing Ceremony as well as Prize distribution function.
The Directorate of Sports celebrated 4th International Yoga Day on June 21, 2018 at Sports ground, GJUS&T, Hisar. Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Honble Vice-Chancellor was invited as Chief Guest and Prof. Satyawan Baroda, MDU, Rohtak was Guest of Honour on the occasion. Dr. Anil Kumar Pundir, Registrar and Prof. Harbhajan Bansal, DSW were also presents on this occasion.
The Directorate of Sports has conducted Annual Prize Distribution Function 2017-18 was held on 03-8-2018 at Ch. Ranbir Singh Auditorium, GJUS&T, Hisar. Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor was invited as Chief Guest and Prof. Harbhajan Bansal, DSW were also presents on this function.
The Directorate of Sports organized the All India Inter Zonal Inter University Chess (W) Championship from December 10-14, 2018 at Ch. Ranbir Singh Auditorium, GJUS&T, Hisar. The Championship was inaugurated by Ms. Ekta Bhayan (2018 Para Olympic Gold Medalist in Athletics), GJUS&T, Hisar on 10-10-2017 and the (Honble Vice-Chancellor) Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar Sachdeva was the Chief Guest at the Closing Ceremony and Prize Distribution Function. Our University team participated in the North Zone Inter University Chess but could not qualify for participation in the above tournament.
The Directorate of Sports organized the All India Inter University Wrestling (Free Style & Greco Roman (Men) Championship from 14 to 18 November, 2019 at Ch. Ranbir Singh Auditorium, GJUS&T, Hisar. The Championship was inaugurated by Mr. Uday Chand Pahlwan (First Arjun awardee in 1961 in Wrestling) & Ms. Geetika Jakhar (Arjun Awardee 2006 & Best women wrestler in 2005 Commonwealth Games) in the presence of (Honble Vice-Chancellor) Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar Sachdeva at GJUS&T, Hisar on 14.011.2021 and Ms. Shweta Mehta (Indian Television Actress, Television Personality, Engineer, Fitness Model) and Dr. Anil Kumar Pundir, Registrar GJUS&T, Hisar were the Chief Guest at the Closing Ceremony and Prize Distribution Function.
The Directorate of Sports has organized 22nd Annual Inter College Athletic Championship from December 28-29, 2021 at Sports Ground, GJUS&T, Hisar. Sh. Balwan Singh, IPS (DIG), Hisar, and Sh. H.S. Bhadu (Associate Executive Council Member) Indian Olympic Association were invited as Chief Guest in Inauguration function on 28-12-2021. Mr. Bhupinder Singh, student of CRM Jat College, Hisar and Ms. Tanu, student of Govt. PG College, Hisar were adjudged the best Athlete among men & women respectively. Prof. B.R. Kamboj, Vice-Chancellor, GJUS&T, Hisar was the Chief Guest at the Closing Ceremony and Prize Distribution Function. Dr. Anil Kumar Pundir, Registrar of the University presided over the Closing Ceremony as well as Prize distribution function Dr. S.B. Luthra, Director of Sports presented the annual report and achievements of the department.
The Directorate of Sports has organized Tiranga Yatra campaign under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav on 12-08-2022 at Sports Ground, GJUS&T, Hisar. Sh. Ranbir Singh Gangwa, Honble Dy. Speaker (Haryana Vidhan Sabha) was Chief Guest for flag of the rally. Prof. B.R. Kamboj, Vice-Chancellor was the preside over the event and Prof. Avnesh Verma, Registrar will grace the occasion.
