Guru Jambheshwar University Library was founded in October 1995 and housed in a circular designed three-story large building. The name of the library is placed before the name of great Indian Jurist, Economist, Politician and Social reformer Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar. The seating capacity of the University Library is 400 seats. The Library runs in two shifts i. e. 9.00 A.M. to 5.00 P.M. and 11.00 A.M. to 7.00 P.M. and remains open on Saturdays and Sundays also. The timing of Night Reading Halls is 8 A.M. to 12 Midnight, however during examinations these remain open ROUND THE CLOCK.
Realizing the crucial role of up-to-date information services for conducting high level R&D activities, the library since its inception has been in the continuous process of building and updating a standarized collection with latest publications. In these endeavors, by the end of December 2016, the Library has a collection of more than one lakh books and 5306 bound volumes of journals. The Library has received 170 Indian Journals and subscribed 47 Magazines and 20 Newspapers.
The Library has always been in forefront in the application of latest information and communication technology, whenever available. To make it accomplish, the Library in its electronic repository, has the access to 7500+e-journals of 19 publishers through UGC-INFONET Consortium under e-Shodhsindhu Project. In addition, the access of Emerald Management with special 298 packages and ASPP of IEEE has also been provided under e-Shodhsindhu project by INFLIBNET. The POP of IEEE is also subscribed up to December 2017. Moreover, the Library has the perpetual access of SPSS and also subscribed Knimbus and Prowess Database for 2017-2018.
In addition, 18310 video Lectures of IITs through National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning are also accessible over Campus Wide Network.
The Library has an Internet Lab for SC/ST students exclusively and one Research Database Lab for the Research Scholars and Faculty Members. Both labs are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
The Library recorded 96681 visitors during the period January to December 2016. During this period total issue for home lending were 43248 books and total 95013 books were consulted by the members of the library.
Apart from the above, the Library provides the facility of detect and check plagiarism with URKUND. As per the terms of MOU signed with Information and Library Network- INFLIBNET, Gandhinagar, the Library is providing soft copies of theses for uploading into Shodhganga Repository.
